Installation on client computers in corporate networks

Corporate networks usually enforce some level of restrictions on installing software. What is prohibited varies, and may be different on stationary computers and laptops within the same organization. So, first of all, run the PlasmidTools installer and see what happens.

If prompted to enter an administrator password, this is then one option. Get hold of a person with sufficient privileges, a system administrator or a local IT-department representative, and ask the person to enter his/her password. PlasmidTools must be installed in the user's logged-in session, since it's 'personal' and saved in the user's personal directory tree.

Another possibility is to use a local administrator window. Many organizations provide this function to allow users install necessary software. A shortcut is then present on the desktop or in the Start menu, named "My computer - Admin", or something similar. Any process started inside this window runs with administrator privileges. Follow the instructions listed on the Install page, but before starting setup.exe, launch the 'My computer - Admin' and log in with your password. From inside the 'My comuter-Admin' window, locate the unzipped 'PlasmidToolsSetup' directory on the removable storage device and double-click on setup.exe to install PlasmidTools Wpf.
